Here’s photos from the new tee pad on Hole 8. This one required some serious digging, as well as an extra 4×4 to serve as a retaining wall. The good news there is that the surface is now much flatter.

And don’t forget to have a sit on our fancy new bench, if it hasn’t been stolen by the time you get here.

Adam and Alan moved the tee pad back a few feet and built a new tee pad. The surface is packed stone dust.

Work weekend prep work photos

Here’s some photos of the prep work for the new tee boxes on holes 7, 8 and 9.

Check the following posts for images of the work and finished product on holes 7, 8 and 9. Hole 6 is the only tee pad left to build. These new tee boxes should provide a much improved surface over the old grass tees, as well as improve the appearance of the course.

Adam Graytock and Alan Mindas deserve a round of applause for all the hard work they’ve done on the course lately. Be sure to thank them when you see them fishing their discs out of the lake.

Tuesday Night Random Draw Doubles

Now that the new alternate Hole 6 is ready to play, we plan to start random draw doubles every Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. It costs $5 to enter. Three dollars goes toward the payout, $1 to the course fund, and there an optional $1 for the ace pot.

Construction begins on alternate Hole 6

Course sign added, new bridge constructed on Hole 1

Alan and Adam did great work building the new bridge between Holes 1 and 2 this weekend.

The old path between the holes was long, and it was difficult to find the elevated tee on Hole 2 for those who have never played the course before. The bridge, which spans a stream that can run very strongly after a rain, will allow us to construct a new, much more direct path to Hole 2.

With the help of Alan Mindas, Sr., Alan and Adam also built and installed the posts for a new course sign at the entrance to Hole 1. Installation of the sign onto the posts was delayed until a day with better weather, probably sometime this week.

We also did some planning for the alternate Hole 6. Inclement weather (it was actually snowing in April) prevented us mapping it out completely, but we have a basic plan in mind for where it will be located.

Work planned for weekend of April 17-18

We’re gearing up for a work weekend this Saturday and Sunday, April 17-18. Please get in touch if you you can help out in any way at all.

Here’s what’s planned:

Construction of a bridge over the stream from the Hole 1 basket to the Hole 2 tee, which will shorten the walk and make Hole 2 easier to find.
Tree clearing, branch removal, and general fairway cleanup on Holes 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.
Repair work on Hole 7 basket. We’ve had problems with soggy ground here, so we need to shore up the concrete around the pin sleeve.
Surveying for alternate Hole 6 location. Too many discs end up on the little league field, so we need to find an alternate location for this hole, at least during little league season.

Tree removal on Hole 3

Bruce Edwards, of Bruce Edwards Stump Grinding Service, stopped by the course yesterday to help us remove a tree that was damaged over the winter, and causing a hazard on Hole 3′s tee box.

Work weekend was a success

Hole 5 Tee Box

It was a very long weekend, with a lot of work being accomplished.

Adam and I worked quite a few hours on Friday getting the materials together, cutting and drilling 4×4’s and cutting rebar. We also put up the remaining two teesigns.

On Saturday we started at about 9am and worked till around 6pm, with Coleman in the mix. We went hole by hole, building the box, leveling it as best we could and filling it with stone dust and lime.

The hardest part of the whole project was the amount of shoveling we had to do, and all the wheelbarrow pushing. Some holes we had access to with the truck, but not all of them. Hole #4 was the worst, and in turn still needs a few loads of stone in it, but is 100 times better than it was.

Sunday it was just me and Adam at the course finishing up 5’s box. It took about another 3 hours.

In all we built and filled 5 teeboxes this weekend. Plans to finish the remaining 4 boxes have not yet been set, but I would guess within a month or two they will also be completed.
